Performance Coaching at GHP

Strength. Speed. Endurance. Education

Performance Coach

Who We Are

Global Human Performance has been building stronger, faster, and more resilient athletes and adults in Pittsburgh’s East End since 2017. We are a performance facility. Our members train with purpose: competitive runners and cyclists chasing goals, youth athletes developing their sport, and adults who want to move well for decades.

Who We Serve

Youth athletes (11+) — a large portion of our youth membership comes from track and field, cross country, and soccer. We also work with field hockey, ultimate frisbee, and other sport athletes focused on becoming more athletic and durable.

Competitive and recreational runners (30-60+) — from 5Ks to ultras, this group is a cornerstone of GHP. They train hard, they care about their numbers, and they need coaches who understand the sport from the inside.

Cyclists and multisport athletes — we have a growing group of road cyclists and triathletes who train with us for strength, power, and injury resilience alongside their sport-specific work.

Adults building fitness for life (45-70) — general population adults who want high-quality, individualized training and a community they belong to.

What You Will Do

  • Coach one-on-one and small group training sessions across various athlete populations
  • Design and periodize training programs, not just execute what someone else built
  • Blend plyometrics, running mechanics, and strength work within sessions for the full athlete
  • Build strong member relationships and take ownership of retention in your coaching group
  • Attend member events including youth sport competitions, local races, and community events
  • Support GHP’s growth through sales conversations — you have to be comfortable selling
  • Support marketing and content creation needs
  • Attend to administrative needs of the business

What We Are Looking For

  • Kind, compassionate, and a personality that connects well with a wide range of people — youth athletes, competitive adults, and general population members alike
  • CSCS is preferred; NASM or equivalent certification is acceptable to start
  • 3+ years of coaching experience; full-time S&C employment is preferred
  • College athletic experience is preferred, especially in cross country, track and field, or soccer
  • Highly qualified candidates also bring a running coaching background at the club, high school, or college level, along with a USATF, RRCA, VDOT, or similar certification
  • Able to coach up to 6 athletes simultaneously without losing quality or individual focus
  • Obsessed with becoming a better coach, actively improving, and coachable — you want a mentor, not just a job

Secondary Skills We Value

  • Sprint coaching
  • Endurance run coaching
  • Marathon and long distance programming
  • Cycling coaching & bike fitting
  • Agility and field sport speed
  • Nutrition coaching
  • Content creation: video & written
